Evaluation of filming

In this lesson we went outside of the college to start the production process we went out as a whole class and each group of threes filmed what we wanted outside and filmed in different areas of the college while the other groups had to had to wait while the three who wanted to film outside did. My group split off with the substitute Callum Mount to film some scene that we desperately needed.

 Then we headed into the basement add filmed the scenes that went according to plan since we had a perfect opportunity to use the lift we needed, this is because everyone else was in lessons so we won't get any unnecessary characters in the shot as well as outside interference. After this we moved towards the main hallway in the basement level we did in all 5 shots for our second scene, it was hard to capture the video since the lighting wasn't in the right position and since the lights were in a fixed position we couldn't move them. so we tried to use some torches but from where we wanted them the light didn't shine that far so we had to film around the fixed lights. Another problem was that I had shots that require a lot of physical movements, so we had to retake a lot of the scene since the movements wouldn't add up together. The editing was a bother since we had to match up non diegetic sound to the actual film.

This was because that the non diegetic has to match up with the visuals. But in all it went swimmingly.However not everything went swimmingly since we had to re-shoot a single scene a bunch of times because of different factors such as non cast members on the set and getting the timing wrong this also includes a few minor injuries one of our actor sustained. If i have to change anything it would probably be the story since i believe it was over ambitious, so next time I will make a more tamed production that wouldn't need a bunch of difficult items to achieve it. I could of improve the camera work since there was shaking when the chase scene happened, I would of also improved my editing since a single audio clip went on longer than expected.

film studios usually want as low of an age rating because the lower it is the more money you can get since more people can see it. For example Steven Spielberg made the Temple of Doom and wanted to have a PG label but he had to much 'very real world of terror, ritual violence, black magic and nightmare imagery' so he was given a 15 rating instead

the film Alien has a 15 film age restrictions because of all the swears such as f*ck and sh*t
etc. 


Our film will be a 12 A  since there wouldn't be any blood but it will be suggested.

I learnt about how the copyright infringement can be passed for private use as well as research and educational purpose however as soon as you broadcast it to the public it is against the law.

There is a thing called a royalty fee this is basically every time you used a piece of work you need to pay a fee to the creator.

Research Terminology

Research Terminology:

What is a Primary source? Original research done by yourself Example:  Doing research done by yourself by asking questions from other people by using a survey or going around the town with a clipboard.

What are Qualitative results?  this research uses comment so that they can see current trends etc. Example: The public has a box so that they can write down their'er thoughts and feelings about a subject that they have witness.

What are Quantitative results?  There is a set amount of information that came back into a graph  Example: If 70% of the public says star wars episode 7 was good and 30% say it isn't then there will be enough information to put it into a graph.

What is Market Research?  research for the improvement of services so that they can make more money Example: A supermarket employ walks around the public and hands over a servery so that they can improve on area where they lack.

Inspiring Ideas

In this session we watched a bunch of short films to try and inspire our own ideas for our 1-2 minutes film. We learnt about linear and non-linear, linear is telling a story in order such as James Cameron's Avatar. While a non-linear story is all to do with telling it out of order and to fill in the blanks by using flash backs.  Another phrase i learned was multi strand and single strand. A multi strand story is showing it through different perspective throughout the film like Pulp Fiction. On the other hand a single strand story is just keeping to the main characters perspective such as the James Bond franchise.

My second short film was called 'Under the Noise'  this is a documentary about how the government has been cutting funds towards the basketball sport this film was made to get peoples attention to the sport and help encourage younger generations into the sport

Propsal

My idea is that I am ether going to have a car chase with a monologue about how he got into this situation. The back story to this would throwing a fight and letting a lot of people lose money, so as he starts to drive away the first of all the flashback starts and its two people on opposite sides and the main character inner monologue starts and goes over how he is going to throw a fight and make it believable. Then it goes back to the car chase and he is starting to get up to speed then a camera cut to the begging of the fight the main character starts to panic. Then so as the main character blinks then its back to the car chase dodging objects etc. Cross cutting to the middle of the fight character drops to knees in fight spits blood(blood capsule). Back to the car chase and the chasing cars are destroyed. Then the main character goes to his room then collapses.

To do this i would need to learn how to effectively use the camera for first person perspective to add a personal connection between the character and the audience

This movie it is about abusive relationships and how the victim see their abusive partner. The directer behind this is a women called Sophie Black and the actors were Adam Lannon and Sarah Lamesch. In this movie there are a lot of close ups  to show the emotions of the actors for example at the end there is a long pause before fading to black that allows the audience see the emotion of the actor and what just happen to her character. The music was that of a heart beat steadily increasing to show anxiety.

The Truth About Meeting Women

In this short film it was about how men think up different situation to deal with the fear of rejection such as if her parents don't approve or she won't like him because he can't go into space. this movie had a lot of cut away scenes to show these events.

this film has inspired me to have the main actor be able to see the secret of each character within my film.

Faye Jackson/ Secrets

Secrets.

Secrets are something that should be kept unknown such as' super hero having a alter ego' or for surprises like birthday etc.

  The Da Vinchi Code is a book deals with a secret war between two religious factions they are  'Priory of Sion' and 'Opus Dei' these two are battling over possibility of Jesus Christ having been married to Mary Magdalene.

The secret in men in black is that there is an organization that keeps track of tourist from outer space just like border control

 this is a crop circle these are usually related to aliens and apparently in Britain these show up in medium to dense population. ever since the 1970's there have been more and more appearing.the government aren't researching it because there is no scientific advantages in it.
